Poland-Slovakia 0:1. Dancing On Ice.

By: tomasz | October 15th, 2009 | 24 Comments »

An empty Stadion Slaski was a witness of the Bialo Czerwoni’s last World Cup qualifying game. We lost to Slovakia 0-1 due to Seweryn Gancarczyk’s own goal, an “effort” that best summarizes our campaign. Just as in Bratislava and Belfast it was our own player that cost us points in the game. No we’re in for two and a half years of friendly games. Read the rest of this entry »

Poland vs. Slovakia. The Empty Stands Initiative.

By: tomasz | October 14th, 2009 | 23 Comments »

This may be the Bialo Czerowni’s most important game of the year. Sadly, not because we still have a chance to qualify for the next year’s World Cup, but because of the “Empty Stands” initiative, a fans’ boycott of the national team game. The protest is not aimed at the players, but at the Polish FA who are held responsible ... [read]

Czech Republic-Poland 2:0. Another Game Another Loss.

By: tomasz | October 12th, 2009 | 31 Comments »

There was no surprise because there couldn’t have been one. This is the level of the Polish national team currently and the sooner we realize that the less frustrated we’ll be. No miracle was on the cards as six of our starters were from the Ekstraklasa, a league that doesn’t even have its representative in the Euro Cup group round ... [read]

The Czech Republic vs Poland Preview. Just Finish It Already.

By: tomasz | October 9th, 2009 | 77 Comments »

It’s hard to be excited about the game against the Czech Republic. Virtually, we’ve got no chances of qualifying to the World Cup, the new coach Stefan Majewski isn’t the person people want to see leading the national team and the fans are more preoccupied with boycotting the game against Slovakia than watching the one against the Czechs. It seems ... [read]

Polish Fans To Boycott The Game Against Slovakia.

By: tomasz | October 8th, 2009 | 25 Comments »

The fans have had enough of this. They’re not going to stand for what the Polish FA is doing and how the national team is performing. They decided to take action and show how influential they can be. They want changes and they want them now. They want a professionally managed FA where it matters what you know and not ... [read]

Squad Watch: Week 7. Ebi Smolarek’s Downfall Continues.

By: tomasz | October 5th, 2009 | 9 Comments »

Sebastian Przyrowski, Lukasz Piszczek, Tomasz Jodlowiec, Rafal Murawski and Ebi Smolarek didn’t make the squad’s final cut for the games against the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The first three were eliminated due to injuries while the latter two because they don’t play regularly. Murawski at least doesn’t play at a decent club (Russian champions); as for Ebi…well he doesn’t even ... [read]

After losing to Legia Warsaw 0-2 in the Polish classic, Lech Poznan is already nine points behind the leaders Wisla Krakow in the Ekstraklasa. The team that last year represented Poland proudly in the European competition made a huge step backwards this term. What are the reasons behind this temporary downfall? Click to check. (more…)

Stefan Majewski Names His Squad. Jerzy Dudek Makes An Unlikely Return, Artur Boruc Makes An Unlikely Exit.

By: tomasz | September 25th, 2009 | 39 Comments »

I haven’t seen that coming. Remember the piece I wrote about the goalkeepers who should be in contention for the spots in the national team? How could I know that the mind of our temporary coach Stefan Majewski can surpass any expectations. Jerzy Dudek returns to the national team straight from Real Madrid’s bench to prove that he’s still up ... [read]

Squad Watch: Week 5.

By: tomasz | September 22nd, 2009 | 15 Comments »

I seriously thought about publishing this Squad Watch report as nothing really interesting happened in Polish football last weekend. None of the Poles scored abroad, the Ekstraklasa round was the most boring so far in the season, Ebi Smolarek still haven’t found a new club (though he started training with HSV). The news that Stefan Majewski became Poland’s temporary coach ... [read]

Robert Lewandowski In One Team With Xavi, Rooney, Benzema and Chiellini. In Fifa Commercial.

By: tomasz | September 21st, 2009 | 5 Comments »

Something I stumbled upon, just a minute ago. It’s very hard to spot Lewy there, he’s on the screen for a millionth part of a second. Oh, and you may also recognize some random guys wearing Lech Poznan kits (for the whole of one second, wow!). Enjoy. (more…)
