You Mr Grosicki Are An Idiot.
Coens’ “Burn After Reading”, aided by yesterday’s article in Przeglad Sportowy, convinced me that it’s time to remind everybody about Kamil Grosicki. Remember him? The right winger who at the beginning of the year played for the national team, was considered for Euro 2008 squad and is now virtually without a club? The same guy who was addicted to gambling and decided to move to Sion in order to repay his debts? Good news is he’s no longer addicted (at least he claims he isn’t), bad news is he remains as immature as an infant.
Here’s the list of things Grosicki “achieved” at Sion:
- he was late for training a couple of times, even though he lived at the stadium
- he caused two car accidents driving without a driver’s licence
- he resigned from taking free French lessons, as he put it “the knowledge just didn’t access my head”
- he can’t speak a word in French, as a result he was unable to understand the strategy and his role in the team
- he was described by coach Uli Stielike as tactically undeveloped
- he spent whole days watching TV and playing videogames
- best of all: he signed a paper given to him by Sion offcials that he thought was a contract release form (he wanted to sign a contract with Jagiellonia at the time). What the paper actually represented was his resignation from all the wages till the end of the year. Should’ve learnt that French.
Now Grosicki is training individually in Szczecin. He doesn’t earn any money and still has gambling debts. Judging from what he says, the whole situation hasn’t taught him anything. He’ll return to Legia Warsaw at the beginning of 2009. Is there any chance he’ll fulfil his undeniable talent? Not with this kind of mentality. Kamil Grosicki is on the best way to access the “wasted talent” list and can achieve it all only at the age of twenty. No more spectacular plays like this?
