Will We Learn The Reason For Our WC 2010 Failure?

A nice film is coming up that may answer some questions about our poor performances in the WC 2010 qualifiers. Filmmakers from the TV channel Orange Sport were accompanying our team throughout the campaign and filmed the most interesting bits and pieces. The trailer looks really encouraging, I just hope the film itself doesn’t refrain from controversy.

Unfortunately, I don’t have Orange Sport in my local cable TV, but I’m sure that the film will pop up on the net sooner or later. If someone grabs hold of it earlier please provide the links in the comments section.

Other news: Franz Smuda is continuing his fight to strengthen the national team. He’s about to meet Robert Acquafresca’s mother in the next copule of days and discuss her son’s inclusion into the Bialo Czerwoni team. Ewa Murkowska, Robert’s mother, says that Smuda presents a much better approach than Leo Beenhakker as he’s really seriously interested in Acquafresca’s decision. If things go smoothly we may have a new striker for the friendly against Bulgaria next year. Another player that is considered for the national team is Bayer Leverkusen’s defender Lukas Sinkiewicz. He’s already got 3 caps for Germany, but he hasn’t played in a qualifying or a tournament game yet, hence he’s available to play us. Our assistant manager Tomasz Waldoch is to deal with this particular case.

Those teams over performed while this team played par for the course.

Yes, overperforming over a whole qualifying campaign. Yeah, right.

Sure it happens all the time. Slovenia just showed it.

Slovenia have a good number of above average players though. Poland never had more than 1 or 2.

Also what’s with all this crap about Jelen to Juventus? He’ll be a reserve player at best over there.

Radek Majewski played well again last weekend.
Perhaps, Franc should try him and Obraniak together in the middle?

Does anybody have any U21 full games or full highlights? I have the Holland game but we lost 0-4. If you do, could you upload them?

Radek and Ludo are both offensive mids so having two would leave more pressure on our defence which is the weakest link of the whole team. We need a defensive mid with Murawski being the best bet I think.

@ EL & SD

well we could do a 4-1-4-1 formation. With Kuba and Rybus on the wings, and Majewski and Obraniak in the midfield with Murawski behind them, that could be a very quick, skilled midfield. We would be lacking some size, but with Jelen up top or even Lewy we would be a great counterattacking team. I know some people will say that Rybus shouldn’t be starting, but besides Kosowski he is our best option at left wing. What about putting Roger out on the left?

I know Rybus scored last game and broke that embarrassing streak, but it’s still only ONE game, and the kids only 20. I say roger 100%, and I really found it disrespectful that Roger was the only one who didn’t get any time in the friendlies. He’s been playing decently well for AEK, and when his game is one he’s had some great games for us. In the foreseeable future he has to be considered.

I’m pretty sure Roger came on as a sub during the Romania match but I didn’t watch it. And are you guys really thinking of going back to a 4-5-1 lone striker Beenhakker nonsense formation? Poland for years have flourished under attacking football, we’re not like Greece and N Ireland who can play solid D then counter-attack. Plus that style of soccer is boring.

well I wouldn’t say that with majewski, obraniak, kuba, and whoever we put on the left that that would be a defensive formation. With Murawski sitting behind them, they could focus primarily on the attack. i guess you could even put obraniak as a second striker below Jelen in a 4-1-3-2 formation. but SD you’re right I would hate to see us play as boring football as a pathetic team like Greece, I cannot understand how they managed to qualify for the World Cup and it will certainly be a downer to watch their group games. I really don’t think we have to worry about that though, especially as long as Smuda is the head coach.

Obraniak apparently will go to Rennes. I thought he would go to a stronger league.

Love how the ManU fans at their offside blog still call Kuszczak a “failbot” despite in the same comments saying that his save was the play of the match. Go figure. Then again, they’re ManU fans…and that should say it all.

I need to point out my faith in Ebi still. I think he should play on the left but I cant argue with the fact that he has’nt got a club, as soon as he signs for someone he should be drafted in to play on the left. In qualifiers he was probably our best player and he was our top goal scorer too and he achived that without a club and with out regular football. Dont over look his qualities just yet and pray that he gets himself a team because he will be good for us, he knows where the net is.

He’s got to swallow his pride though. He still wants to go to a “big club”. C’mon, you’ve been out of the sport for half a year. Just go to Chicago Fire, tear it up for a year, and then go back to Europe.

Ebi should play in Poland; he could bring some excitement to the EK. I’d like to see him paired up with Frankowski. Even if he feels he is too good for that, he could show all of Poland if he is of a higher caliber. If he could be a star there, maybe it would provide some confidence and secure a spot with the Biało-Czerwoni and against international competition. Speaking of Frankowski, I was glad to see tomasz mention his name in a recent post. I think veteran players like him can be huge stabilizers for the NT, for young players, for team building, and for the energy on the field.

^ Casimir: Ebi in the US would be good too! … he could bring Frankowski back to Chicago with him ;-)

Hey, what happened to that young polish striker who had been playing with SC Heerenveen? I can’t remember his nam, it was something like Wojiechowski or something along those lines…

Paradowski- I mention Chicago because I was googling Ebi for news articles to see what’s up with him and came across some blog where they mentioned Ebi’s name coming up as one of the foreigners they were looking into bringing in. I don’t follow MLS but they were saying they have a striker need and apparently Chicago Fire has a Polish-American fan base. Think they also have a new manager too, so its not the same guy who brought in Frankowski and then benched him after coming back from injury.

Honestly, it would make sense. MLS supposedly has been playing with more of an English style of game, but the talent level should be a position where Ebi could be in its top tier, so IMHO it provides the opportunity to play in a club using modern tactics but at a talent level where he can showcase to hopefully go back to Europe in a year.

Casimir – sounds good to me; I like your idea. He needs a team and that would work. thanks.
