Welcome (over coffee)

July 14th, 2006 | By: Os Davis | 1 Comment »

Is it permissible to say “cheers” over a cup of morning coffee? How about “welcome,” then?

Welcome, Coach Leo Beenhakker, new head of Team Poland, the first non-Pole ever to coach the national squad.

More after a turn at the day job…

I said months ago, before the cup, when people were griping about Janas, maybe Poland needed a foreign coach.

Qualifiers for the Euro Cup, consists of Portugal, Poland, Serbia (SGM?), Belgium, Finland, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. Rather tough group; if Poland could get through that group, I’d think, it would be a lot to be proud of.

I’d say we are close to par with Belgium and Serbia from a historic perspective; and people can like them or not saying they are divers; Portugal was finalist in the Euro and final four in the World Cup.

But back to the matter; Beenhaken should almost be the coach of the World Cup, the way Trinidad and Tobago played against England and Sweden.

Should be exciting.
