You’re right, Kowalczyk can play as a LB, but as far as I remember he plays RB for Dinamo. We need to see in a friendly if he can use his left foot well.

I don’t think that Zahorski was called up instead of Brozek or Lewandowski. The fact is that it was previously agreed that Wisla players wouldn’t be called up and only one Lech and Legia player would. Therefore Zahorski’s presence is not a surprise, especially after he did very well against Haifa. I think that Zahorski, because of his size, adds a different dimension to the team and is quite useful. At the same time, he’s not a player that will score 20 goals a season, he just doesn’t play as a lone striker for his club. He’s not taking Brozek or Lewandowski’s space because they’re different types of players. Leo said that the doors are open both for Jelen and Brozek so the latter should get a call up if his form continues.

Kowalczyk mentioned that he used to play LB for Belchatow so I wonder if Beenhakker will try him there and move Golanski to RB?

I’m disappointed to see Zahorski called up instead of Brozek or Lewandowski. I think the last two have more potential to develop into useful players for the NT, Zahorski on the other hand hasn’t improved much in the past year and his strike rate is quite low. I think Wisla and Lech would have agreed to let their players go, given the results in their last CL/UEFA matches.
