Well Grasshoppers isn’t as strong as it used to be. It’s done very well in European competition up until now but poorly in the Swiss League with one win, one defeat and one draw. They have three very powerful forwards, Sabanovic, Lulic and Bobadilla and some talented midfielders like Cabanas and Salatic. They are fairly impressive team when you look at the players and the overall quality but it looks as if they’re taking the European campaign more seriously than the Swiss Championship (they qualified from the Intertoto Cup).

Fojut definitely won’t be loaned out because it’s his last year of contract at Bolton. If they want to prolong it first they have to check if he’s good enough. Apparently, there are only 2-3 other centre backs in their squad so Fojut must get a chance, at least in FA Cup or League Cup. If that isn’t the case he’ll surely find a good Championship club next season. Cywka’s career so far doesn’t develop as expected.
I hope Salamon plays for our youth teams, he may be a big talent. Debut for Brescia at such a young age can’t be a coincidence. The guy is 1,93m, wow!

Fojut did well on loan last season and Bolton’s manager mentioned he got a lot of offers from Championship clubs, so I’m not worried about him. Cywka on the other hand… He’s 20 years old and is not even making the bench in pre-season friendlies… but perhaps he’s just injured, who knows…

There’s not much info on Salamon unfortunately but he seems a bright prospect. He’s been compared to Marek Hamsik and apparently Real Madrid and West Ham were both interested in him a few months ago. He’s quite young, only 17, but has a good chance of getting some playing time this season, although probably only as a sub. He has already made an appearance in Serie B (in May). The Polish press should interview this kid instead of writing countless articles on players who need to be persuaded to play for Poland.

Lech is one of the top 3 clubs in Poland. They’re better than last season as they managed to acquire 4 respected players. Lech’s leaders are Bosacki and Arboleda (centre backs) and Murawski (centre midfield), who took part in Euro 2008 for Poland. Bosnian Semir Stilic is tipped to be league’s top playmaker, whereas striker Rengifo is Peru’s international. Another striker, Robert Lewandowski, is one of the brightest striking talents in Polish football. Piotr Reiss is club’s legend and most experienced player. Lech tries to play offensive, one touch football so I think we can expect an interesting encounter. What can you say about Grasshoppers?

Szalachowski has a big chance as long as he’s healthy. So far he hasn’t featured in any list of potential call ups. I wonder if he can manage to play a whole round without an injury. Don’t forget that we’ve got a lot of interesting right wingers (Kuba, Lobo, Jelen). Iwanski’s only chance for nt is the fact that Ulatowski became Leo’s assistant. I agree that it’s too early for Rzezniczak, I need to see him against a classy winger. I don’t know what’s wrong with Grosicki, I read interviews with him before the season where he stated that he wants to become one of the Swiss league’s stars. Maybe it’s the fact that he’s only loaned out from Legia. Kupisz and Cywka both signed new contracts with Wigan so I’d expect both of them to feature in friendlies. It’s really a last chance for Cywka, as it is for Fojut. They should start playing, at least from the bench. Fojut won’t probably move, he’s got a real chance of playing regularly for Bolton. I’ve never seen Salamon play, what do you know about him?

How’s Lech Poznan? I’m curious to know since Grasshopper are going to play against them and I don’t really know how good they are and what their best players can be?

I think Szalachowski has a better chance of playing for the NT than Rzezniczak or Iwanski. The fact that he wasn’t called up for the konsultacja is probably due to Sebastian’s long-running injury, but if he can stay injury-free…

I don’t see much of a future for Iwanski in the NT, he’s had his chances but has never really shown anything, and at his age I doubt he’ll get much better.

At this point, Rzezniczak doesn’t stand much chance of breaking into the NT, he needs to work on the offensive part of his game like you said. But at 21 he has plenty of time still.

Disappointing that Lewandowski didn’t get more time.

What is going on with Grosicki? Sion has played three games already, he has not made the bench once, even though he’s not on the injured list.

Kupisz has featured as a sub in several pre-season friendlies for Wigan. No sign of Cywka…

Salamon (Brescia) has also appeared in some friendlies.

According to the Italian media, Napoli are interested in Fojut.
