You can’t deny the fact that there is a hierarchy in each national team. If Leo called up only players who did well in the last 2-3 league matches we would have a different lineup in each game. Players need this kind of stability, they need to know that the coach is counting on them. Pawel Brozek, for example, plays much better after Leo announced that he’s his starting striker. If he know decided to get rid of him and bring Wichniarek instead he’d lose all credibility. WIchniarek is having a great season, I can’t deny that, but his inclusion in the team is not needed at this point. I agree that he should have been given 2-3 friendlies to prove himself before Euros, but now we’re building a younger team and there’s definitely no place for King Artur.

Witold, I think you completely misinterpreted what Leo had to say about Boruc. He didn’t put the blame on Artur, he put the blame on himself. In fact, Leo wants to be blamed for choosing Boruc instead of Fabian, he doesn’t want the critique to be aimed at the Celtic keeper. Nowhere did he say that Boruc lost the game for us. Stating that there is no clear nr 1 in the team is perfectly natural considering Boruc’s current form. It should motivate both the keepers.

Getting rid of Leo? This would be the most stupid thing to do, especially after he started to build a new, younger team (Brozek, R.Lewandowski, Wawrzyniak, Blaszczykowski, Peszko, Wojtkowiak, Bandrowski, Kowalczyk, Jodlowiec etc). Let’s wait for the next qualifying games, I think Leo should stay as long as we have realistic chances of advancing.

Somebody could tell me what Leo did that wonderful with our team? What is his strategy? What we have win this year? How much player don’t want anymore play for him ? and he seems to work hard to have more and more players in that case:

You can’t take away what Wichniarek has done this season. You also can’t deny that he has come into his own. But at 31, his prime will be short. Remember that he only started scoring recently, his past track record was not very impressive. I think that we have to be satisfied with the fact that he is successful in one of the top leagues in the world. Calling him up could hurt the development of Robert Lewandowski on the international stage.

Well Youtube doesn’t really prove anything because anyone can look good on youtube. And like I already said I know he has good finishing, and sure the Bundesliga is better then the Ekstraklasa but its not like hes playing in the Premiership he still has a while to go to play at the highest level league.

Well, we need to get rid of Leo then. Cool finishing ability at the highest level is what really counts in the end, and if everything were so good we wouldn’t be third in the pecking order to qualify for Euro 2010. Let’s look at cold mean facts, not opinions.

Did you somehow forget that Wichniarek said he wouldn’t play for Beenhakker? So even if Leo wanted him he wouldn’t go, and the way I see it Brozek and Lewandowski are excellent strikers, and with Blaszczykowski and Roger in midfield we don’t really need as high quality strikers because out midfield gets the ball right to them. And how do you not see Blaszczykowski in a counter-attacking role he is what I would think our fastest player and his goal in the Czech Republic game was from a counter attack. Wichniarek doesn’t counter attack as much as he never plays back because he has low stamina. Brozek will drop back to a midfield role when defending and fights for the ball. Wichniarek has to be given a good chance I’ve never seen him make one for himself, the only good thing that he has is his finishing, where he is beat by Lewandowski who can get good shots on target from crazy situations. So no the nt doesn’t need Wichniarek at all, and especially if thinks too highly of himself saying that he needs a call up, no that’s not how it works you have to wait and prove yourself.

Wichniarek must be included in the NT now. The way he is regularly scoring goals at the highest level means that he’s become very strong psychologically and is likely to perform likewise. He’s also giving us the counter-attacking option which provides for the unpredictability factor we’re missing so much these days. Leo’s introduced some positive changes but now another change may be needed. Wichniarek is in the form of his life and must be given a decent chance to make his contribution.

Unfortunately, Lech lost, but had a great match. Moscow clearly underestimated them, and got punished for it. Too bad they did lose.
But Poznan still has a good chance to advance.
