Poland-Germany Preview. Time To Get Personal.

The time of analysis is over. This is football, an emotional game. I don’t care if there’s 5% or 10% chance that we defeat Germany tonight; I believe in the lads in white and red uniforms. The whole country is unifed in one dream: to defeat the Germans. National flags everywhere, everyone is talking only about THE GAME.

Some autobiographical info to better express my feelings. I was born in the early eighties and enjoyed my first football experiences in the early nineties. As you can see, I wasn’t given a chance to watch Polish team’s biggest achievments in 1974 and 1982 (I’m always annoyed by people reminding it, it’s been 20-30 years God damn it). In fact, the nineties are called the worst time in the history of Polish football, a black hole. We didn’t qualify for any of the major tournaments in this decade. Constant losses against England, Sweden, Norway, Italy, Holland or Romania were something natural for me. At that time I had only one dream: to watch the Poles compete in a World Cup or Euro Champs. And we qualified for two consecutive tournaments in 2002 and 2006. I was the happiest man on Earth, especially after the 2002 qualification. We finally seemed to be a part of the big football world. But, after huge expectations came even bigger disappointments. The games against South Korea in 2002 and Ecuador in 2006 are my worst national team experiences. We were so poor in those tournaments that probably nobody even noticed that we were there.

Now I’ve got a different dream. I want the Polish team to be a COMPETITOR. I want us to give our 100% or even more. I want us to take part in thrilling games; I want our team to show a distinctive style of play. I want the guys to make me proud. I want the whole nation to be mesmerized by the national team. I want to scream JEEEEEEEEEEST!!!! when we score in games that matter (unlike in 2002 and 2006). I want to get drunk with happiness tonight. It’s a perfect occasion: a game against Germany. We’ve never won against them. This could be history in the making. And we can be a part of this history. I want to tell my grankids about this night. I don’t want to hear that our players our worthless and that Germans are unbeatable. I want to believe that we can do it. I want to scream my lungs out tonight. FOR POLAND! Football is an emotional game. Let’s switch off our brains and turn on our hearts.

KTO WYGRA MECZ?

It’s the 2nd day of the torunament and I can already tell we will be better than the turks (big dissapointment, my bets flew down the toilet).

I have that thrill, the old demons of 2002 and 2006 arrive, hopefully, to be chased away for good. I read our guy’s statements and they seem relaxed and confident, but will they really keep the spirit when they come out on the pitch? Damn, this will be exciting!

In my lifetime there were only 2 games against the germs, 0:2 friendly and the infamous 0:1. no win in the history as well. but today it doesn’t matter.

jeszcze polska nie zginęła…!!!

Well boys and girls, its Sunday. I’ve got a big bottle of champagne sitting patiently in the fridge and i’m willing to crack her open even in the event of a draw. This should be a very interesting game. Let’s pray. :)

No champagne for me today. Well. There it was. Our defense didn’t look too solid. It wasn’t nearly tight enough. The midfield wasn’t bad, and i think Roger did a great job. I still think we’ve got a solid chance to come out of the group. On an upside, not a single German scored a goal today :)

Put us in our place? You’re DREAMING. Did a single German score a goal today? NO. And Podolski looked MISERABLE after scoring. Keep your disgusting arrogance to yourself. Poland showed beautifully and we have huge hearts that crush your false German ‘pride’. You barely have any Germans on your team! GO POLSKA! POLISH LOVE FROM CANADA!

Poor performance of our defense,but Germany has two very strong player to beat: two polish :) So sorry for our midfielders that have play so well, but now we have to proove what kind of team we have with the next match against austria. I like very much the hard work of Krzynowek, Boruc was perfect, Roger put some new creativity.

It is dissapointing we didnt win, but in all I think we played a good game, we controlled possesion a suprising amount and we also had a decent amount of shots on net, yes I know alot of those shots werent too tough for lehman to defend but the german defense played great and there is no denying that. I was very dissapointed with one of the line judges and the calls he made, the 1st scoring oppurtunity for Germany with klose and gomez was clearly offside and dont understand on how that played on. The 1st podolski goal was in my belief offside also,especially in the same situation smolarek was called offside but he was in line with lahm at the top of the pitch. Well all this wont change anything and we have to look forward to the next match and from watching this game I think its clear Zurawski should be benched in favor of Roger, and maybe do something with Golanski since he made the bad mistake for goal number 2.

@Polishprincess

Looks like Poles can only win when they are playing for somebody else. On that note you should get back to work and keep sucking my ….

Go Austria !
