Poland

Poland-FC Ferreiras 2:0.

Poland defeated lower league Portuguese outfit FC Ferreiras 2:0. The goals were scored by Szymon Pawlowski and Rafal Boguski.

The match wasn’t televised, I only got highlights for you. Supposedly we had many goalscoring opportunities, but rainy weather prohibited us from scoring more. Tomasz Zahorski alone could have had a double. The Lithuania friendly is on Saturday, we’ll see on which guys we can count on in World Cup qualifiers.

Poland-FC Ferreiras 2:0 (Pawlowski 35′, Boguski (pen) 76′)
Poland 1st half: Stachowiak – Rzezniczak, Celeban, Polczak, Komorowski – Pawlowski, Danch, Tralka, Roger, Wilk – Zielinski

Poland 2nd half: Przyrowski – Pawelec, Jodlowiec, Pazdan, Wasiluk – Lobodzinski, Lukasiewicz, Gargula, Boguski, Malkowski – Zahorski

If you look closely, you can see our new Nike kits. This is not an official version, still it doesn’t look very spectacular.

Appears Cywka will finally get his chance:
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_4897177,00.html

Bruce challenges Pole

Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce has challenged youngster Tomasz Cywka to earn a place in the club’s first-team squad.

Cywka, 20, arrived at the JJB Stadium in 2006 and has since made just two senior Latics appearances.

Striker Henri Camara recently joined Stoke City on loan, and Bruce is keen to fill the void left by the Senegalese.

Bruce has been impressed by Cywka, who has played up front for the reserves of late, and is hopeful he can make an impact between now and the end of the term.

Opportunity

He told the Wigan Evening Post: “One of the reasons I let Camara go to Stoke was because I’ve been really impressed with Cywka.

“The kid has now got the opportunity to show me that he can be our fourth striker. He’s done well in attack playing for the reserves.

“He’s got a big chance for the next three months, and it’s good for me to be able to give a young player this experience.

“We’ll be sitting down with him and the other Polish boy (Tomasz Kupisz) in the next two or three weeks to get them tied up on new contracts.”

Its nice to see that Cywka will finally be given a chance, hopefully he wont screw that up. Does anyone know anything about Zeyn S-Latef? I haven’t heard anything about him since his move to Sheffield United.

Actually Zeyn is playing for the second Team of Sheffield United and he is in the starting line for as good as every game.
But I read that he wants to leave Sheffield after this season because he has no real chance to play in the first Team.

I hear Zeyn is pretty wishy-washy about whether he wants to represent Poland. There was a mention not too long ago that he wanted to play for Sweden.

I wonder why Globisz et al. have never called up Adrian Cieslewicz of Manchester City:
Birthdate: November 16, 1990
Represents: Faroe Islands but apparently Adrian has only Polish citizenship and would prefer to play for Poland.
Position: Appears he was originally a striker, but seems to have been converted into a midfielder.

He has played a few times for their reserve team:
http://mcfcreserves-academy.blogspot.com/

January 20, 2009:
“Eighteen minutes after the break City equalized when good work by Adrian Cieslewicz on the right found Guidetti who evaded the defence and sent a good low hard cross into the area that Redshaw ran in to convert.”

December 16, 2008:
“City had the last laugh however when in the ninety second minute Adrian Cieslewicz fed a good ball into the feet of Redshaw who saw Mak running into space and he fired across Murphy and he could not hold onto the wet ball as it lodged itself into the far corner of the goal.”

Hieronim, I just shot off an email to the PZPN as well. I highly doubt anyone will answer, but it’s worth a shot huh.

fifa has answered pzpn, and thougn it’s not clear yet, it seem there’ll be no problem for obraniak to play for us, as he just made an appearance in france u-21 in a friendly game. now he has to apply for the citizenship. lato says they really want this to work.

things are looking up.

I’m sorry, I misunderstood the article. It says that Kuba simply isn’t ready yet for the game against Bayern Munich, not that he’s injured again.

From what I read a moment ago, it seems that Kuba won’t take part in our friendly against Wales. Szymon Pawlowski is to replace him. The injury isn’t serious, Kuba should return on the 20th of February. Still, it sucks. I hope we’ll see Boguski rather than Lobo in the starting lineup. I also read today about Obraniak’s case; as Gregorio wrote, it’s still unsettled. Apparently, some mysterious FIFA players’ commitee is to decide on that. Obraniak sustains his interest in representing Poland. Lato got involved in this case, I think he sees here an opportunity for his first major success. President Kaczynski would also have to be involved.

^FIFA supposedly finally responded to the PZPN. Really hope he’ll play for Poland.

Beenhakker says that he’s very interested in Obraniak:
http://www.eurosport.pl/pilka-nozna/beenhakker-o-obraniaku_sto1836026/story.shtml
“If Obraniak obtains a Polish passport, he will become a very serious candidate for the Polish national team, that is certain.”

Lithuania 1-1 Poland… (Okay, i’ll be the first say something) …in a tough competition! Poland controlled most of the second half and had better chances, maybe not so exciting in the second half, but because -> it was quite a battle.

I thought there were no conditioning/toughness issues with Beenhakker’s side. They faced a tenacious Lithuanian side with extra guys held back in defense. And Poland efficiently turned away a few attacks.

Still, to compete for a spot in the World Cup, shouldn’t Poland be capable of doing away with Lithuania? A 1-1 draw seems discouraging to me.
