One way ticket to London?

January 22nd, 2006 | By: Maciej | No Comments »

Poland international defensman, 28-year old Marcin Baszczyński has been invited on tests by West Ham United. He accepted it and flew to London from Turkey, where Wisła Kraków, Polish champion, prepare to the second round of Polish Orange Ekstraklasa.

Wisła’s trainer - Dan Petrescu, Chelsea’s former star is really angry with him:
Marcin risks a lot. Unless he succeed in London, his chances to play regularly in Wisła are minimal. He looses some days on our training camp, besides I don’t like this kind of players. I decided to give my heart to Wisła and I require the same attitude from my players. Those who think of leaving Wisła won’t play in first XI‘ .
His right to be angry – pillar of Wisła’s defence formation wants to quit.
After Hammer’s right defender Tomas Repka has decided to move to Sparta Prague, “Baszczu” would be attractive option for West Ham manager Alan Pardew.
His position in Polish national team is almost assured and besides the price for him is not that high – approx. £ 1 million.
If he plays well in Germany, the price may be doubled but what if prior to that Baszczyński doesn’t play in Premiership at all?
