i agree that poland needs young talent. they have pretty good youth teams but some of the blame of the lack of quality in our players has to be blamed on pzpn...they need to get off their butts and scout for good players in germany, england and the americas where a lot of poles have imigrated over the years..a good example is podolski, he wanted to play for the polish team and even sent letters to the pzpn but nobody listened. then the german F.A heard about this and offered him a place on the team, and now he is very succesfull. Obraniak, ever heard of him? he wants to play for poland but pzpn is ignoring him....and Zeyn S-Latef..he is very good and i hope that pzpn wont fuck him up as well..thats just naming a few..in germany you woulndnt believe how many people want to play for poland....but you will just have to find out in 2010 when they will be wearing the german jersey not the polish one.

tomasz - you're absolutely correct. I was trying to look at the FIFA schedule on a PDA and I obviously didn't catch that. Thank you. That really does change things with potential roster moves doesn't it. I still believe they need to incorporate the younger players or face a complete disaster in 2011 but they will need to take a different route. Thanks again for a great blog : )

@j
From what I've learnt, our next friendly is against Ukraine in August. We play our first qualifying games against Slovenia (6.09), San Marino (10.09), Czech Rep (11.10) and Slovakia (15.10). There is no friendly against San Marino as we play against them in the group. Since it's only one friendly, I don't expect a large number of new, young players introduced this year. I think it'll happen in 2009. Leo plans to organize some special training sessions for young Polish players from the league every 2-3 months.
@Tomek
I wouldn't necessarily get rid of all old players, but I would certainly limit their role in the team. I mentioned Magic in this note. He may be a part of the team as long as he's not the captain, a leading player and as long as he performs well in Greece. But we can't build the team around him. I'm looking forward to seeing Nowak, Witkowski and Lewandowski making their name this season. Hopefully, they'll manage to.

Tomasz, I agree 100% with your assesment. We Must rebuild our team ASAP. Look at the strides Russia has made with all their young players. They look nothing like the slow, cumbersome Russians of the past. Granted their league has improved immeneslyover the past several years which has helped all their young talent develop. One other name I didn't see in your post is Zurawski. I have defended him for years, but now I am done with this head case. Zurawski - OUT, you have been to three major tournaments and you have accomplished NOTHING. I know we have a deficiency of strikers but I pray Beenhakker gives someone else a chance. (Janczyk, Nowak, R. Lewandowski, Witkowski)

Poland's next friendly is against San Marino and I'm hopeful that they use it to introduce some of the younger players (i.e. Dawid Janczyk, Jarosław Fojut + others). I think this aspect was one area they missed at the Euros and they need to adjust very quickly or it will have very negative consequences post 2010.
