More on Hungary’s Ferencvaros relegation

July 31st, 2006 | By: Os Davis | No Comments »

I understand they actually played some football here in Hungary over the weekend, but local sports pages are still filled with words about the relegation of Ferencvaros, the country’s most prestigious club, due to financial “issues.”

Here’s a piece published on the eve of the season opener from local newsweekly Heti Valasz; it’s a decent summation of the past 15 years’ worth (a.k.a. The Capitalist Era) of financial fun at the 107-year-old club.

The translated (by the lovely and talented Ágnes Latorre) and edited (by me) for the non-Hungarians out there version is here.
