Marek Saganowski Is The First Pole To Have Scored In The Champions League Since 2005.

Who would’ve thought that it’s going to be Sagan, one of the most criticised members of the Polish national team. On the other hand, that’s exactly why he moved to Aalborg; it was because of the chance to play against top European teams in the Champions League. The goal didn’t help much as the Danish teams lost 3:6. Highlights after the click.

Marek Saganowski, a guy who played in five different clubs in the last five seasons. Does this goal mean that he’ll get a call up from Leo? Not necessarily, I’ve learnt that Sagan is usually called up in the least expected moment (e.g. Euro 2008). Enjoy the first Polish CL goal in three years:

Sagan also had an assist in this game

Arur Boruc and Celtic didn’t have the best of nights as they lost 0:3 to ManUtd. Artie could’ve reacted better at least in one situation.

Other news: Sebastian Tyrala received Polish citizenship and is ready to play for our national team. Still, remember that the guy plays for Dortmund’s reserves so calling him up would be a little unfair with regards to other players. As Gregorio wrote under the last post, he should get a chance in our U-23 first.

Other Pole-to-be, Ludovic Obraniak, is still unsure whether he’ll be eligible to play for Poland. Polish chief scout, Marek Chorazyk, asked FIFA directly about this case. Let’s hope the answer will be positive for us.

Sebastian Tyrala said that he would welcome a move to play in the Polish league. Stating that since he got his Polish citizenship he will no longer be a priority for Borussia Dortmund and the country’s youth representation. He mentioned Wisla Krakow as a team he would like to play for. Wisla are apparently planning to make some signings when the new transfer window opens.

Smolarek scored a goal for Bolton’s reserve squad against Everton. Its going to take some time but he will soon be scoring for the senior squad. All he needs is a chance to play every game and gradually adjust to the English game.

I’d rather they didnt. Even though I don’t like Lech I’d rather see them playing Poles instead of some Spanish rejects. It would be fine if they modeled the club structure on Valencias or if Valencia set up some youth camp there but it would waste Polish talent. Just think if they sent Mata or someone then Lewandowski wouldn’t have played and no one will think of him as a excellent prospect for Polish football. So no to the loans, but please build a youth camp.

Its really hard to say when you don’t know the details. Personally I have not been following football long enough to see this type of deal. Let’s hope that this one of those deals that will help Polish footballers get exposure in Spain. I’m sure they would have their scouts and coaches report back with the progress of players. This is where guys like Lewandowski would get a second look with the possibility of moving over to Spain. Most importantly, they would also bring a winning mentality and the prestige of a big European club to Lech Poznan.

The best case scenario would be for Valencia to send over quality youth coaches and trainers to protect their investments. That could benefit the rest of the team as well, more importantly our youngsters. They would instil the same work ethic and style of play as in Spain. It would help prepare our players to that style of play if they every got the chance to play in Spain.

Finally, some young Spanish talent will only push our youngsters to work harder and gauge how they stack up against players from a country, which produces a lot of quality footballers.

As for the Brozek transfer rumours, I think that it would be most beneficial for the national team and Wisla, if they do decide that its time to make a move, to loan him out for the rest of the season. Hopefully that would turn that situation similar to what Amr Zaki is going through. If he goes to Tottenham or Bologna and get significant playing time I’m positive he will be successful and that will only raise his value. That would only benefit Wisla financially.
