Magic Zurawski: The Brutal.
Who would’ve thought, Magic Zurawski, one of the calmest Polish players in history, finally showed us his dark side. This is the first time I’ve seen Zurawski frustrated at someone else than himself. If only he was able to show as much character when he captained our national team… Click to watch a video of Magic elbowing some guy in the Greek league.
Other news: Great news, Felix Magath has supposedly permitted Jacek Krzynowek to leave Wolfsburg during the winter break. Now the much talked about transfer to Legia Warsaw should be carried out without problems, right? Not exactly, Legia have reduced their contract offer for Krzyniu by 20% in the last couple of days because of the owners’ rejection of the initial wages. Krzynowek won’t accept that, he can get much more money when he signs on a free transfer in the summer. Come on Legia, you can do better than that.
Bartosz Salamon received his first press coverage in Poland. Today’s Przeglad Sportowy wrote a little piece on him. Salamon is called Il Talento Polaco in Italy, he also had an offer from Juventus, but chose Brescia because of their ability to produce young talent (e.g. Andrea Pirlo, Daniele Bonera or Marek Hamsik). He was on a trial at West Ham this winter (Zola was happy with him) and received phone calls from Real Madrid. Surprisingly, Salamon doesn’t have a manager; maybe that’s why we didn’t hear very much about him before. I think it’s best for him to stay at Brescia at the moment, especially that he’s given a chance to play in the first team. Anyone knows any Brescia fans and their opinion on Salamon?

I’m not a supporter of Larissa, but in “Magic’s” defense (he hasn’t been magical for Larissa hence the quotations), it’s a tough league and there are many defenders who try to get the upper hand against attackers.
With that being said, I think Zurawski is just trying to do his job but better be careful how he conducts himself in such cases.

A goal every other game is respectable, i think.

^What?!

what do u guys think about this Boenisch guy comming out like that

What did Boenish say this time? A while back he said something along the lines of that if he got an offer to play for the Polish NT, he might consider it but he sounded pretty arrogant and made it clear that he feels more German than Polish. It seemed to me that he was fishing for attention from the PZPN to spur the Germans into giving him a callup. The Polish press should just ignore him.

I think he’s a douchebag. Same piece of trash like Klose and Sinkiewicz.

it pissed me off because it seemed like he wanted to rubb it into faces but he’ll be a 3rd or 2nd string left back for germany because of lahm so i hope he enjoys that

In regard to the Polish Soca article about Boenish, whether he is a douchebag or not, it doesn’t matter. The fact of the matter is that the PZPN HAS been asleep in regards to the polish talent in Germany. Or anywhere else in the world for that matter.

^He was asked to play for Poland, and refused. Just like Sinkiewicz and Klose. That’s why I think they’re douchebags. And yes, he could win
EURO 2012 with us, but preferred warming the bench.
And Polish scouting has improved somewhat, though it still needs work.

@Tomek
Thanks for the videos, but he acts rather like a primadonna in the first one. I just can’t imagine Zurawski being really scary.
@zaraza
Yeah, I agree, such moves are usually stupid, if our player did something like this during a qualifying game I’d be first to critisize him. I posted this video for the laughs, not much is worth reporting right now in the Polish football (where are the big transfers?). As for Magic’s captaincy; I think that Leo believed that Zuraw was the only player that can win the game by himself, hence his trust in him. As you probably remember, he was great in WC2006 qualifiers. Leo wanted to get even more out of him. Unfortunately, he was never a material for a leader.
@aalms
Once a star, always a star. What’s your name? Maciek? Just like Magic Żurawski?
As for Boenish, I don’t think we’re able to capture a player that has a chance to play for Germany and wasn’t involved in our youth teams. Just look at Trochowski, even though he’s not a starter for Germany and would be a star in our team I’ve never once heard him regretting his decision. Such players are a lost cause. Our chance is to capture those players at an early stage in their careers or concentrate on those who are not good enough to play for Germany.

He may simply be claiming this to put pressure on the Germans. Whether he actually got an offer from the PZPN no one knows for sure. Even if he did get one and turned it down, I doubt we’re missing out. Although I’ve only seen one match of his, he seemed a bit of a clown. He’ll probably fit right in with the German defense (if Euro 2008 is anything to go by).

^You’re absolutely correct zaraza. I really don’t understand these guys:
He’ll maybe get a couple of caps, and that’s it, that was his national career. Look at Sinkiewicz: Got a few call ups in 2006, and basically that’s all he did for Germany. While for Poland, they could play all the time.
But hey, it’s their loss.

Trochowski could have been a starter for us but I think in general many of these players are overhyped. From what I’ve seen of Boenish (not a lot I admit) he didn’t seem like someone who would bolster our porous defense, just add to the leaks.

Ok I’ve just taken a look at the article on Polish Soca. The source is Super Express and they quote him as saying that if the PZPN hadn’t ignored him and other players, then there’s a good chance they would have chosen to play for Poland. I seriously doubt the veracity of these quotes, this is Super Express we’re talking about after all, it’s well-known that they completely make up stuff to fill space and cause a sensation. Well actually you could say that about a lot of Polish “news” sources but still, SE is pretty bad so it’s doubtful that he made any of these statements. I clearly remember him saying about a year ago that he felt more German than Polish.

Janczyk, apparently, scored two goals in a five goal rout of Zulte Waregem (reserves. It puts him in good stead to enter the first team sooner then later. Good for him. He was a beast in Canada a couple years ago, and i still think he has the same potential as Blaszczykowski and Lewandowski.

Thanks for that info on Janczyk.
Bartosz Salamon is playing today according to this source
http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/football/serie-b/2008-2009/brescia-empoli-245814.html
Brescia is currently up 2-0 versus Kokoszka’s Empoli. Kokoszka seems to be struggling to keep a clean sheet these last few weeks but at least he’s playing regularly.

I just finished watching the last 20 minutes of the brescia empoli game Kokoszka looked pretty steady in the last minutes salamon came alive in the last couple minutes even had a good scoring chance but his header was pretty weak but the italian commentators keep on repeating his name

That’s good to hear about Kokoszka.
Apparently Salamon also had a goalscoring opportunity in the 18th minute, his header beat the keeper but a defender managed to save on the line.
Wojciechowski is not on the bench for Heerenveen. It’s possible he still hasn’t recovered from that second injury he picked up a month or two ago.

I wonder if we’ll be seeing Janota today. Haven’t heard much about him lately. Apparently he missed some training due to illness.
Some more info on Salamon:
“In the second half Tuscans were sketchy but a reaction after the expulsion, the 56 ‘of Saudati, guilty of an ugly foul against Salamon, their action has lost belief, allowing lombardi to administer without patemi the result.”

What Zurawski did was unacceptable. It was downright embarrassing and unprofessional.
Boenish is an idiot. He is saying nothing that anyone has not heard before. He is just an attention whore. He is part of the problem and not part of the solution. He is scum, and this should be the last time we speak of him.
I saw that Daniel Szetela played as well. He is another example of the PZPN’s arrogance.
Does anyone know how Błażej Augustyn is doing?

Actually, Szetela was on the bench the whole game.
Augustyn is still recovering from a serious knee injury. He probably won’t be back in action until close to the end of the season.
Maciej Wilusz of Sparta Rotterdam recovered from a series of injuries, went on loan to another club and almost immediately suffered a knee injury…
As for Piszczek, he’s hopeful that he may be back in four weeks
http://sport.onet.pl/74318,1248685,1900518,powazne_klopoty_kadrowicza_beenhakkera,wiadomosc.html
Blaszczykowski should be back in a couple weeks.
Is it just me or are Poles unusually injury-prone…
Anyway, here’s an article on Janczyk (in French)
http://www.footgoal.net/suite.php?selection=36004
He didn’t travel this weekend for the match against Tubize because he didn’t feel ready yet but they expect him to play in the next match.

^Nah the Dutch are worse when it comes to injuries.
And no, normally Poles aren’t injury prone.
Bad luck?

Błaszczu has been voted the best player of the last year of BVB by its fans. It’s great, i hope he continues this form in spring. we need consistent players on a level of a top european league.

From what I read some papers were missing and that’s why Janczyk couldn’t participate in Lokeren’s game. I’m really curious if he gets a call up from Leo tomorrow. I didn’t include it in my newest note, but Boruc looked shaky once again when conceding the goal against Hibs.
