Dudka On His Way To Lazio, Matusiak On His Way Out.
What a great time it is, the end of the season. It seems now that a day without a transfer speculation is a wasted day. Only yesterday did I report about a supposed interest from West Brom in Radoslaw Majewski while today we learn that Wisla officials are flying to Rome to negotiate Dariusz Dudka’s transfer to Lazio. Moreover, there is some usual controversy surrounding Radoslaw Matusiak and his performances (lack of them, to put it simple) in Wisla’s jersey.
Przeglad Sportowy writes today about Lazio’s interest in Dudka. Wisla’s president Mariusz Wilczek and sporting director Jacek Bednarz are flying to Rome today to, as Wilczek put it, ‘establish a partnership with Lazio’. They just want to learn how to run a club in a ’serious’ football world (I don’t know if Lazio is a good example as they have huge debts). At the same time Wilczek isn’t reluctant to say that Dudka’s transfer will be one of the topics of discussion. At last, we have a rumour that is confirmed first handedly by one of the involved sides and doesn’t sound like science fiction. Lazio already wanted to buy Dudka in the winter break but he rejected the offer as he had just returned from an injury. Now it’s the
perfect time for the Romans to act as Dudka’s value can only rise if he impresses in the Euro Champs. The Wisla player looks ready for a challenge abroad, he’s made a big progress in the last two years after being named responsible for our loss against Germany in the WC (the famous Odonkor cross that Darek was reluctant to block). Lazio is a respected club, but this respect is based on their past performances rather than current league position (13th). Dudka isn’t of course good enough to play a key role there but he should do as an utility player with his versatility enabling him to play as a full back, centre back and a defensive midfielder. His game is based on his physicality and fitness; he somehow fits into Serie A for me. Bear in mind, however, that I was also sure that Radoslaw Matusiak will play regularly at Palermo.
And speaking of Matusiak; if you thought that his situation couldn’t have been worse than the one I described in one of the last notes, you were wrong. Gazeta Wyborcza writes about a serious quarrel between Radomatu, who demanded more playing time, and Wisla’s coach Maciej Skorza. The outcome is obvious in this case; Matusiak may not even play a minute till the end of the season. The player, of course, refuses these allegations, but the the milk has already spilled. 79% of the fans in the recent poll were against Matusiak’s inclusion in our Euro squad. This is what I meant last time when I wrote about his situation being similar to the one of Mila, Kosowski and Rasiak before the last World Cup. Those players were constantly criticised (sometimes it was justified (Mila) and sometimes not (Kosowski)) by the press and, as a result, received no support from the fans. It all lead to a disgraceful abuse of Rasiak by the fans in our friendly against Columbia. As much as I wouldn’t like it to happen again, the same treatment seems destined for Matusiak.
Don Leo will cut the Euro squad to 26 tomorrow. The decision has already been made but the press is still speculating. I have my bets and shared them with you last time. It looks that the guys from Super Express read this blog as they tipped exactly the same six to be axed. I demand some gratification for my expertise! Interestingly, Przeglad Sportowy decided to cross out only 5 names; will Leo finally take 27 players to the camp? I can’t wait for tomorrow.

Well, well, this is getting better by the day. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/07052008/58/euro-2008-polska-bialo-czerwoni.html

There are always mixed reports concerning our emigration in the UK; we hear about Poles being attacked on ‘national’ basis almost every week. However, the link that you gave may prove that the ‘normal’ part of society welcomes us with open arms. It’s gonna be great to be a Pole in Britain if we do well.

hmm, Dudka in Serie A??
I guess they need someone to warm the benches… I fear that’s the best our boy Darek will be able to do at such a club, but that might just be me.
