Dudek’s tough situation in FC Liverpool

January 15th, 2006 | By: Maciej | 2 Comments »

Jerzy Dudek, one of the heroes of Champions League Final in Istanbul and still first goalkeeper of Poland, hasn’t played a single game in the first XI of FC Liverpool since then. Direct reason was Reds’ trainer, Rafa Benitez’s decision to buy Villareal’s goalkeeper Jose Reina for 6 million pounds. As Reina’s form is definitely stable, Dudek realizes that unless he plays regularly, there is no way of showing up on German stadiums. Thus he wants to change the club but Rafa keeps repeating: NO!

Dudek’s situation in Liverpool affects his position in the national team. Some guys rub their hands:

Artur Boruc, first goalkeeper for Celtic of Glasgow with serious chances to replace Dudek in national team, Tomasz Kuszczak collects outstanding ratings in WBA and finally Wojciech Kowalewski solid goalkeeper of Spartak Moscow.

Time’s running, competition makes constant progress and Dudek stays stays angry…on the bench.

Boruc should be the one in goal. Dudek has been great for years but his skills have gone downhill. Boruc will lead us to victory.
