Poland

Cheated.

Just a single word to sum up my feelings. Tears in my eyes. I can’t believe we were robbed so harshly. I thought it was a free kick for us. Disbelief. How could he? English referee. Why? Nobody calls this a penalty. 93rd minute. Just waiting for an occassion to award a penalty. I need sleep and more alcohol.

Sorry – it’s about as blatant a penalty as there is. Aside from the fact there has been a general directive from UEFA to clamp down on shirt pulling, your defender is *all over him. You can see quite clearly – he’s wrapped his arms around him and he’s pulling his shirt. That’s a foul – check the Laws. It’s inside the box – penalty. Most of the time, these aren’t given because a) the striker is doing it too and b) there’s such a melee in the box it’s impossible for the ref to see. Not the case this time.

It’s about time refs gave more of these, frankly. Shirt-pulling and holding at set-pieces has never been part of the game, and yet all of a sudden were to accept it as “just part of the game”? If defenders know that they run a real risk of conceding a penalty if they shirtpull, or hold, they’ll soon stop doing it. Bravo Howard Webb.

hahaha it was great night!! i was watching this match with my friends , we were so unhappy with the result but there was a miracle in 93′ :D . To be honest draw it is fair result for both teams. polish you have to realise that your team is quite weak….

I can’t believe the Poles here are complaining about the referee. I wanted Poland to win, but the referee helped them much more than the Austrians.

The goal of Poland was from a clear offside. Then there was a clear penalty for Austria in the beginning of the second half, when Ivanschitz was caught by a Polish defender, but the referee ignored it.

The Poles should thank the referee for helping them, not blame him for a penalty he gave for a clear shirt pulling.

Dear other fans who think Poland lost fairly last night,
It doesn’t matter who was better or worse on the field – the ref decided the score. The offside was a mistake of the ref but the penalty he gave on purpose, deliberately – notice that he redid the free-kick when Boruc had caught the ball. Lewandowski did not kick or pull or push the Austrian. It was the austrian who leaned against him. The ref is a little boy who wanted to clear his account and the mistake from the 30th minute. All in all it’s so unproffessional. Nightmare!

There was no offside! Saganowski was trying to score (it was not a pass) but the ball deflected from Austrian player and then Roger scored ! It was a rebound shot!
What about the abnormal amount of unfair free kicks for Austria??? Why the ref did not punish the Austrian who provoked Bak???

Many people are just focusing weather it was a penalty or not, but really, it shouldnt of been an Austria free kick in the first place, which led eventually to the penalty, it should of been a Poland free kick.

What happened? Is it a conspiration? German team loose against Croatia and Austria have received gift from referee and now the only way to have a chance is if Austria beats German (!!!) and Poland beats Croatia… Turn the page, now we have to focus on World Cup 2010, with Smolarek, Boruc, Roger, Janczyk maybe this time we will do something good… But before, just for satisfaction, we have to beat Croatia, because if we can’t this mean that anyways we have no chance to be enough good to go on quarter

It was NOT a foul. Proedl had nothing to do with the ball at that point. The whole football world is saying it was not a foul, it’s all over the media. Howard Webb should be suspended, no doubt.

refs are all crap, but that’s just the tip of the ice-berg. the real problem is the fifa mafia

but with all said, ‘the whole football world’ is probably polish media am i right polishprincess? you guys were lucky to get a point. when someone is going to head the ball you have no right to grab their shirt and pull them down towards another direction

all the best

Does anyone agree with my thought that it shouldnt of been a free kick to Austria in the first place? You clearly see an Austrian player push Bak with force, Bak seemed to shove back then the Austrian player shoved again, but the Austrian player struck first. I dont get why it was a re-take for Austria when it looked like it should of been a free kick to Poland in the first place.

all you fucking U.K guys are dumbasses, howard webb is an example of cowardly officiating. people grab shirts every single minute of the game, then once some austrian pussy gets a little grab automaticly drops on his face like hes hiding from a fucking bullet once he knows he can’t reach it. howard felt it wud be the right thing to do giving the god damn home country a chance in this damn tournament, hes probabyl just afraid to get smashed after the game

Andrei summed up my thoughts; Austria deserved something out of the game. With better strikers, Poland would have been heading home after 25 minutes. In fairness, it was actually a foul, similar to the Romania penalty; it’s just a foul you never see awarded in the penalty-area. Most surprising thing, English referees are usually more lenient and permissive towards the physical side of the game.

Naturally if my country was on the wrong side of such a decision I’d be pretty pissed too. Take into consideration the timing of it too, if he made the call in the 33rd minute it wouldn’t have attracted such criticism, and that’s not really fair. It happened when it happened.

soccer is getting ruined by these players diving. They should allow refs to watch the replay to see if they judged the call correctly because it was obviously a stupid call, the austrian pus knew he was in the box and had no chance of getting the ball so he takes advantage by diving. The ref is an idiot and is now getting harassed by polish fans, i dont blame them. He ruined polands chanced and practically guarenteed the germans and croatians a spot to move on.
djsosumi is an idiot. that was not a foul, ball wasnt even close to the play and player buckles his knees while looking at the ref. stick to watching nascar buddy.
