Boruc to Tottenham? Kuszczak on loan?
Just a quick note about some speculation concerning our two keepers. As I’ve written earlier Tottenham is one of the clubs shortlisted in the context of Artut Boruc’s departure from Celtic Park in the summer. Now the news was “confirmed” by Metro (if it’s a reliable source by any means I have no idea) in the article about Spurs’ summer purchases.
Boruc is mentioned among David Bentley and Diego Capel as Tottenham’s transfer target for the summer window. These are quite impressive names, only proving the Spurs’ ambitious plans for the next season. In my opinion, it’s high time for Bentley to change a club, he won’t progress anymore playing ‘kick and rush’ at Blackburn. Capel is what’s called wishful thinking as even the major clubs like ManU or Arsenal would have enormous problems buying him. Boruc, however, is a different cup of tea. He seems ready to leave Celtic and I already expressed my opinion that White Hart Lane is the perfect destination for him. The names mentioned above only confirm that the Spurs are ready to spend a lot of cash in the transfer window. The club that decided to pay 8M for Allan Hutton won’t think twice about the reported Boruc’s 10M price tag. Imagine watching Artie playing regularly against the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea and all the controversy he would spark before the games. A great treat, both for Polish fans and journalists. Pack your bags Paul Robinson!
Another rumour involves our backup keeper Tomasz Kuszczak. News of the World reports that Fergie is considering sending Tomasz on loan. No details are given as it’s only a small note. I personally find the idea quite interesting. It’s just a matter of Kuszczak’s attitude: is it better to sit on the bench for a huge club or play regularly for a smaller one? I know that our goalie is extremely ambitious and believes that he can win the nr1 blouse. However, van der Sar is staying for another season and he seems a dead cert to play. Moreover, we can’t forget about Ben Foster- the last English hope for a decent goalie. The press will surely promote their countryman ahead of Kuszczak; Jerzy Dudek can say something about playing under such pressure. I think it would do Kuszczak good to play somewhere where he would be considered a certain nr1. After all, there is life after Manchester, just ask Tim Howard.
PS: Maciej Zurawski was involved in a car crash. Fortunately he’s not injured and will probably play in the next week’s game. Too much of the Greek sun perhaps?

I think your blogs are very imformative and extremely good to read about some good news for the poles after their loss to the US!
I think Artur Boruc is one of the best goalies in Europ, i hope he can get a good run of luck, and impress a big teams!
Cheers.

Thanks Jan. We, the Polish fans, don’t need much to get excited. Hey, I was even thrilled when Matusiak went to Palermo and Heerenven. Imagine my potential reaction for a big Boruc transfer.

Honestly I dont see Kuszczak as that important to the Polish squad. I’m still angry at him for the Columbia game. Now Fabianski is the man I really want to see go on loan. All he does is play reserve games for Arsenal and just steals the goal from Szczesny. Even the championship would be a good loan for him just to gain some English experiance. That way he will string together some good performances and when he comes back he will get some more respect from Wenger.

I’d agree that Fabianski has much more potential and in the future he’ll surely play in the Europe’s top clubs. What I like about Kuszczak is his strong character and confidence. I think it’s extemely important for a goalie to have the charisma and winner’s mentality.Kuszczak spent a lot of time on Hertha and ManUtd’s benches but he still believes in himself and is ready to fight for the place in the squad in every training session.
