He didn't score any goals, but he was given chances week in week out (not something that Piotr Reiss or Bartosz Karwan would experience). I think it all comes down to his versatility; I heard that he was even tried as a right back. In the game against Moldovans he was a left winger, he played right winger on Euros and as a striker in his last season in Poland. A useful player, that's all. To be honest, I was quite surprised that Piszczek played regularly in the second half of the season. Polyvalent players + a quick passing game are basically the core of his football philosophy, so a player like Piszczek seems to fit in nicely into his concept. In Piszezek's defense I should also note that he started out last season as a sub and then became a regular starter later in the second half of the season. And two of his three assists and the one goal he scored all came in Hertha's last five games, so his form curve was already on the rise. Nice to see that he kept his momentum. Apparently whoever manages Hertha (I have no idea) sees something in Piszczek and keeps playing him. I wouldn't be so understanding if my striker only scored once in twenty something matches. But you also have to remember that he is an incredibly universal player, he can play as a Forward, Attacking mid, wings, haven't ever seen him play center mid but i bet he wouldn't be too bad at it. So I'm guessing he didn't play every game as a forward last season. Piszczek really did blow last season but its his first season abroad and he still has allot of time to develop.
