Bad Luck Strikes Again: Zurawski Out Of The Tournament.

Poland’s captain, Maciej Zurawski, got injured in yesterday’s game against Germany. Today we learn how serious the injury is: Magic is out of the tournament. If our situation was bad after the Germany game, now it got even worse.

Zuraw didn’t impress in the first game, but he’s always capable of a good performance. He’s our second best striker after Smolarek. Now, we can’t count on him to lead us to the quarterfinals. I know that I wanted Magic to be replaced with Roger for the Austria game, but I think Zurawski would still represent a huge threat from the bench. Provided Roger starts next game, we’re left with no real attacking options on the bench. We must now count on the likes of Gargula, Zahorski, Saganowski, Piszczek or Murawski to provide aid in the decisive minutes of the next two games. Oh captain, my captain!

Who should replace Magic in the first squad?

I thought Piszczek showed nicely yesterday. I think there is hope with Roger and Piszczek. We’re not out of it yet!!!

Piszczek played on the right wing, where I think Lobo will start. I don’t know really if he’s considered a striker.

This can be taken as both bad and good news. Sure Zurawski could be the captain and possibly the most expierenced but this now allows Guerriro to play for the full 90 mins. Also if Saganowski gets a bit more playing time he might be able to change a few things, the way the tournament started Poland needs needs a change of tactics and fast.
