Nice to hear they won a game. But against Canada, I was hoping for more goals. I agree with Marcin0 that the team needs to get some confidence. We don’t have to be able to beat everyone in the world. We should be confident that we belong on the pitch together. I’m tired of calling Polish players weak. Its not possible that an entire country couldn’t have even one world class player. Hopefully good things are to come.

Nice cross by Obraniak, and who’s 11?? Kosowski??, to head the ball on to Rybus for the score. That whole play looked like quality football, especially for Rybus to spin around and just put it in the back of the net. Hopefully there’s more of that to come.

This was a good win – we beat a team that is ranked higher than us.
Canada is #53 we are #56 (stick with the positive thoughts).

FIFA ranking is a joke how can Poland be #56 & the Czech’s who did just as poorly in the same group are ranked #15.
For the people who say the ranking is based on previous performances, how is Israel ranked ranked #26 when in the past 15 years they did not qualify for any major tournament & took 4th place in a weaker group than Poland’s.

I did not see anyone mention the great game the U23 team had (joking).
They lost 2:1 to a team from England. Before you say well England is pretty good, the England U23 team was made up of guys playing in the
5TH DIVISION or lower. How sad is that.
The U23 team is supposed to be a training ground for potential NT players.
Well known guys like Piotr Polczak, Michał Pazdan,Dawid Janczyk played in this game and they lost to a bunch of amatuers.

The EK is weak & can not produce good talent. We do not have a bunch of players playing in the best leagues in Europe. So where does Smuda look for talent?
It will take a long time for the NT team to be strong again.

Piotr Polczak is not a potential NT player, he is terrible and is Stefan Majewski’s love child. He got called up to the senior team when Majewski was coach and look whose the coach of the U-23 currently. ‘Nuff said. I think that Smuda might favor his old Lech boys (R Lewy, Mura, Peszko)even when they do bad just like Majewski with Polczak. I have no problem with that cause I’m a Lech fan boy and these guys are the future(well Lewandihno is, Peszko is more of a back up for Kuba if he ever regains his previous amazing form. Don’t think we’ll be seeing Wilk around though.

Average performance by Poland. Offensively we were decent, but just couldn’t score, which is kind of scarey considering that we were playing Canada. Defensively, we were poor. Zewlakow played solid and cleaned up a lot of our mistakes, and Sadlok was also dencet, but there were momementsd when I though the Canadians were going to score! Obraniak is a great addition to our team, the heart and soul of our offense: every decent attacking play involved him in some way. One thing I would definetly change if I were Smuda, is just to get rid of Kuszczak, I crap my pants when I see him kick the ball and when the Candians attack. Boruc, is in my opinion the best Polish keeper: sure he screwed up, but he has more than deserved a screw up here or there for saving our buts so many times throughout his playing for Polska.

Hopefully Franek will use Radek Majewski more. He is extremely talented, has the best technical skills of all Polish players.
With more playing time he can become our first real playmaker since Piotr Nowak.

Since the Canadian forwards did not look to attack I would have liked to see Rzezniczak and Gancarczyk come out more and try to add to our offense. The defensive mindset looked as if we were playing a 5 star opponent looking to attack our defensive line. Smuda or even Zewlakow (c) should have recognized that. What separates a guy like Zewlakow from a kids like Sadlok, Glik, or Kokoszka? Is it experience or confidence in their abilities. I have seen enough of the kids to know that they are more skilled than Zewlakow. Why did it take Zewlakow so long to become an effective defender? If Smuda can figure that out he will be a genius.

I saw the replay of Lewandowski’s one on one with the keeper and it looked like he was clipped from behind by the defender. That is why he went down because he lost his balance. He knows how many games he has without a goal. I don’t think Lewy is looking to get, at that point, a meaningless penalty since he wasn’t going to take it anyway. In traditional Polish football fashion the penalty kick taker would be the oldest guy on the field or a defender.

I hope Smuda has not forgotten about Roger.

Agreed. I believe if R. Majewski had been brought on earlier we would have been truly impressed and also confirmed him in our eyes as a key future player in the team. Malecki’s nice shot hitting the post was a heartbreaker. I see him as a key future striker. Honestly I don’t get all the hype about R. Lewandowski. I expected him to miss his shots and wasn’t surprised when he did just that..I hate to feel that way about a player on the team. Dudka surprised me with that better performance and quite a few powerful shots on goal! What a perfectly executed goal by Rybus! Nice..

Michał Listkiewicz, no surprise, will end up behind bars. The first domino to fall in a series of what I am sure is many. Lato and his boys look nervous. LoL, will Listkiewicz spill the beans in order to get a reduced sentence? The intrigue continues…

Given Lewy’s poor form, I wonder why Jancyzk has been mostly overlooked this past year.. And Radek Majewski also deserves more of a chance than he’s gotten, he could add that extra bit of creativity that we need.

Grzegorz Krychowiak is on trial at Stade de Reims who are currently 4th in the French 3rd division. It’s a little disappointing that he can’t find a club in Ligue 2 but certainly better than Bordeaux’ 4th division reserves.

Szczesny is also planning to go on loan soon. I’m glad to read that, there’s no sense in wasting time in Arsenal’s reserves. Kuszczak is a prime example of how a player will stagnate without regular playing time.

WOW what are you guys saying about Lewandowski? He is terrific with his back to goal, he has great vision to execute one-twos and other combination passing, he is fast and he can finish. I understand that he has gone some games without scoring, but here is something to think about; pay attention to how the team plays and the actual record of the team when a certain player starts or plays. Nobody ever mentions assists on a striker’s stat sheet, and win-loss record to me would be the most important stat. Say what you want about players like Rasiak, Zurawski, Szymkowiak, etc., but when you look at how the team did, they were doing well. Yah, we fell on our face at two WC finals in 2002 and 2006 and the Euro 2008, but players who played major parts in qualifying where left out, like Frankowski, Kosowski, and Rasiak. They either weren’t included or received no playing time.

@ tomasz- I know it was only Canada, but Dudka played very well, and I think he has more speed and aggression than Murawski. I also thought Janusz Ganarczyk didn’t look bad at all. He was actively looking for and fighting for the ball, ran at some defenders, earned some fouls, etc. He should be included in the same group as Sadlok and Rybus, who really impressed me. I know Janusz isn’t as young but still better than Wilk or some other crap.

Szczesny has joined Brentford in League One on a one-month loan. The manager has assured him that he will step right into the starting eleven and play in all seven matches during this period.

It’s now certain that Krychowiak will be joining Stade de Reims on loan:

Someone help me make sense of the Krychowiak loan. Playing time is one thing but Ligue 3? He would have been better off coming back home.

Another interesting bit of news: THREE 17 year olds were handed their professional debut this weekend in the Ekstraklasa, Michal Zyro for Legia, Marcin Kaminski for Lech, and Sebastian Leszczak for Wisla. They only spent 3-5 minutes on the pitch each but nevertheless it’s encouraging news. Polish clubs tend to be very reluctant to give a chance to youth but the situation has definitely improved in the last year or two. Most clubs in Poland now have at least one U-21 player in their starting lineup.

I agree but I’m not surprised. Apparently he turned down an offer from Arka Gdynia at the start of the season and chose to play in Bordeaux’s 4th division reserves…

Zurawski’s goal a penalty kick, not suprised. Apaprently the Reading forum said Rasiak won every header and took his goal very well. But they said he can’t last a full match. I say Rasiak gets called up to the national team as an impact sub. If its 75 mins and still aint winning bring in Rasiak and change tactics to set peices to Rasiak. Just an idea since we’re having so much trouble scoring goals…

I say don’t call up Rasiak. I don’t think he’s ever done anything useful for the nt. Only a waste of space that a better younger striker should be filling.
